Granola account and email changes
This article explains what happens to your Granola account when your email address or domain changes, and what we can and cannot help with. It covers:
Changing email addresses within the same Google or Microsoft Workspace (for example, @granola.so → @granola.com)
Moving your notes to a new Granola account when you still have access to your old email
What happens if you no longer have access to the email address tied to your Granola account
1. Domain changes within the same Google or Microsoft Workspace
If your change is managed within the same Google or Microsoft Workspace (for example, @granola.so → @granola.com) and you are simply changing your domain or editing an existing email address under that same Workspace, things should be seamless.
We use your unique Google or Microsoft identifier for your Granola account, not just your email string. That means:
Your organization can update your domain or your email address.
You can continue to use your usual method (Google or Microsoft) to log in.
You should find that all your Granola history and notes are maintained.
For Enterprise organisations with SSO (e.g. Okta) configured, we’ll need your admin to work with us on changing the SSO provider configuration.

2. If you still have access to your old email
If you are changing email addresses or moving between accounts and still have access to your old email, you can use Granola’s in‑app note transfer feature to move your notes from one account to another.

3. If you no longer have access to the email account linked to your old Granola account
If you no longer have access to the email address that your previous Granola account is tied to, you will not be able to transfer notes from that account.
This is because:
We need to verify that you own the old email address before we move any content.
Verification happens via a code sent to that email, and there is no other secure way to prove ownership.
If you cannot receive a verification code at the old email address:
The in‑app transfer flow cannot be completed.
There is no way to move notes out of that old account.
You will need to start fresh with a new Granola account.
